English Language is one of those classes that requires just reading the books in your course syllabus, and learning how to write timed essays. Grammar is nice, but you should have learned that already to some degree. A prep book is more necessary for Lit than Language.

Stu's comment is pretty accurate. I took Language last year and bought a prep book at the last second (Kap's -- definitely do not recommend) and realized I didn't need it. Most of the stuff you learn in class. If you're worried about being prepared, read a lot and check out some comprehensive literary terminology lists on the internet. The CB website has a list of authors and works for language/lit that they recommend, so try looking for those.

Cool- I'll check out the CB website, but might get Cliffs just in case. Our class I know is doing a combination AP class/British literature because that's required of juniors, which is okay I guess. I suppose all I can do is take the class and see what happens! Thanks

Wow the college board has really kicked into overdrive with these changes on the APs, first foreign languages, now our language. PSHAW, i say. PSHAW.

I'm glad I already took the exam. I've looked at the DBQs from the history APs and thanked goodness I wasn't and won't be taking any AP history. :p
