English major... is it true?

Is it true that since most who apply for an English major are females, that males have a good/higher chance of being accepted into a college if applying for an English major?

The choice of major has little to do with admission in most colleges. There are certain colleges at universities that have higher requirements (like some business and engineering schools). English is one of the more common majors and being male will not even be a tip in the admission process.

Erin’s Dad is exactly right.

While about 2/3rds of those who are English majors are women, that is actually lower than fields like psychology, education, social services, etc. that have around 80%.
