I will be applying to CSUs this coming fall and am not so sure what CSU has a great English department. I am currently at a community college and will be transferring in one year. My intentions are to go for a Masters in English (which I want to obtain at a UC) and teach at a community college. Which CSU has a decent English program (preferably up in Northern California). I heard Fullerton and Long Beach are good; however, I can’t afford going down to SoCal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Most of the CSUs have very respectable English departments so, pick an environment you like. Since you are curious about N Cal, look at Chico, Sonoma, Humboldt, Sacramento and SF. Those are VERY different. I am sure one will float your boat more than the others.
Sonoma, especially for their special Hutchins program (selective).
Why not apply to a UC though?
While csu 's only offer aid for tuition because they expect youvto commute, UC 's were designed to recruit state -wide and thus have fibanxialnaid foe room and board.
Thanks for replying! I would have loved to go to a UC, but I don’t have enough credits to transfer in time. I thought it would be nice to get my Bachelors at a CSU and my Masters at a UC.
