English Major--Rutgers vs. TCNJ

I'm flattered I've been accepted by both schools, but am having trouble deciding. My heart says Rutgers, but my mind says TCNJ. All opinions will be greatly appreciated.

If you really want to go to Rutgers, why would you feel bad about turning down TCNJ?

Rutgers and TCNJ are completely difference experiences. Choose the experience where you feel you can have the greatest success.

In short, if you have the patience, persistence and organization skills to establish strong relationships with your faculty at Rutgers and to navigate the logistic complexities of a large university, then RU has a higher ceiling than TCNJ. If you prefer a more intimate, LAC feel, a more manageable campus, then TCNJ is your choice.

Why does hour head say TCNJ? And why does your heart say RU?

To rualum:TCNJ is smaller and an easier commute. Thanks for asking

To mtown27:
Like I mentioned to rualum, TCNJ is smaller, so probably less intimidating. Also, it’s closer to home.
And,
I might be mistaken, but from what I’ve read, Rutgers’ English Department is nationally recognized and the course list attracts me.

Are you commuting? How much closer is TCNJ over Rutgers? If the difference is significant (20+ minutes), that’s 40+ extra minutes out of your life 4-5 days a week! Also, Rutgers is not the easiest place to park, even for commuters.

Two completely different schools. Rutgers is known worldwide and has a lot to do on campus, TCNJ is small and not well known outside of NJ. Go where you think you will be happy.
