Why is UC Irvine so much more meticulous about the pre-reqs than UCLA?
I've heard so much about UCLA's English program, but none about UCI.
I know UCI is a great school- 2nd on my list after UCLA, but I don't want to take all those courses for UCI because they're very difficult classes that are totally unnecessary if I got into UCLA.

Pre-req's for UCLA I've already taken: EWRT 1A, EWRT 2, EWRT 1B
for UCI: ELIT 10

Why does UCI require so many pre-reqs than UCLA?
I thought UCLA was pickier?
Should I just focus on UCLA's pre-reqs and my GPA?
I have a 3.5 :( at the moment but will probably be 3.7 or 3.8 by the time I apply. I'm also starting TAP this fall quarter.
