English+Music+Theatre=?

Hello,

I am currently an undergraduate student studying creative writing, music composition, and theatre. I love all three of these areas, so I thought that studying Musical Theatre would be a perfect graduate school option. However, I only know one school that has such a program: NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, which is incredibly selective. I need back-up plans. Does anyone know of any other schools with programs like Tisch's Writing for Musical Theatre program?

I would also be willing to consider some kind of Writing for the Media program, or anything that could combine at least two of my three main interests.

Thanks!

On the CC College Majors board there are sub-forms for Musical Theatre and Theatre. I think you’d get your best feedback by posting this question there.

Yes, go the sub-forum, but you might also consider / ask there about programs in addition to graduate school. Tisch, for example, might have summer programs open to non-NYU students.

I would also look into theater companies that support new playwrights (Roundabout, Playwrights Horizons, eg.,), look on their websites to see what information you can get about how to pursue the field.

Oh okay, thanks, I’ll have to check that forum out! And thanks about the new playwrights ideas- definitely something to consider.
