English Placement/Validation

I was reading through the appointment instructions package and I am a little confused on the English validation. Under PLACEMENT it says

I am in a “College writing” class at my high school, is that what this is talking about? because later under transfer it talks about not awarding transfer credit to high school courses which get concurrent college credit, which is what my class does, although I am not signed up for it because I knew USAFA wouldn’t accept the transfer. So, my question is, will I be able to be placed in a class other than English 111 with just this high school/college course?

Sorry for the long post, I am having trouble wording my question

No, you must be in college taking English or have taken the AP/IB test.

oh, that's too bad, oh well, writing isn't too terrible big sigh:)

Hornet; being "Placement" tests has been brought up, question. Does the academy review your IB tests taken in high school and determine your placement, or is it something you need to be pro-active about and let someone know you took all these classes? Thx....

Usually need to be proactive about it. The only one that I didn't have to go talk to them about was biology.

Eng 111 validation can only come from a 4-year university, not a 2-year one. The validation policy used to be more skill-based than class-based, but it changed last August.

I'm not sure about the AP exam. If you can validate Eng 111 through the AP exam, you probably need a score of a 5.

Yes, if you get a 5 on the AP English exam, all you have to do is show someone in the english department your score sheet and they'll validate you on the spot.

I validated English 111 with a 4 on the AP lit exam.

So did I, but this year, late in August they changed it. I know this because apparently I squeaked through this new policy change, one of the last ones..:) . Now a 5 is needed.

ack! but i could've sworn i read you could validate with a 4...dang! i'm in language this year, so i guess i can try for a 5.

i got a 4 in lit last year.

yup:
Validation.
You may validate English 111 by taking: a) the College Board's AP exam in literature/composition or language/composition (you must score a 5 on either test)

that stinks.

w00t! I lucked out then. :)
