English proficiency exam

Okay, so I got a 3 on my AP Lit Test and a 730 on my SAT II writing exam. Apparently, one can't satisfy the Writing I requirement by having a 720+ SAT II score alone and you either have to have a 4 or 5 on the AP exam or do well on the proficiency test offered the second week of school. If I don't do well on the test, I have to take English Composition 3A winter quarter.

I was just wondering if anybody has an idea of what to expect on the proficiency test material and format wise. Thanks! :)

i dont think there is a test to pass out of Writing I class... are you talking about the Entry Level Writing Requirement?

Actually there are multiple ways to pass out of Entry Level and Writing I.

Entry Level Writing Requirement (system-wide)
-680 or better on the College Board SAT-II Writing Test administered

-or 3, 4, or 5 on either Advanced Placement (AP) Examination in English

-or 5 or above on an International Baccalaureate High Level English A exam.

-or pass the Analytical Writing Placement Exam adminstered in May (prior to enrollment)

Writing I
The Writing I requirement may also be satisfied by scoring 4 or 5 on one of the College Board Advanced Placement Tests in English or a combination of a score of 720 or better on the SAT II Subject Test in Writing and superior performance on the English Composition 3 Proficiency Examination.

Students whose native language is not English may satisfy the Writing I requirement by completing English as a Second Language 36 with a grade of C or better (C- or a Passed grade is not acceptable). Admission into the course is determined by completion of English as a Second Language 35 with a passing grade or proficiency demonstrated on the English as a Second Language Placement Examination (ESLPE).

Sorry for the lack of information on the English Composition 3 Proficiency Examination.

ah i c. so confusing hehe
