which of these schools has the best english program, specifically in creative writing?

creative writing at brown is called literary arts--there's a pretty remarkable faculty and track record of churning out pulitzer winner's--in fact last year, both the playwriting and fiction pulitzers went to alums.

some of the more notable creative writing faculty at brown are two macarthur genius award winners (john edgar wideman and CD Wright), a pulitzer prize winner (paula vogel), carlos fuentes, robert coover, and on and on.

a great feature of the program is the opportunity to do a senior capstone project under the advisement of one of the illustrious faculty members. i think the only other undergrad creative writing program that really compares is princeton's

Brown also prouced Meg Wolitzer (novelist) and Michael Harpur (poet) taught there ,as did Jack Hawkes (novelist), and Edwin Honig (poet).

Also Lois Lowry (The Giver, Number the Stars), Alred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy), Marryline Robinson (Gilead), Jeffrey Eugenides (Virgin Suicides, Middlesex), Edward Ball (Slaves in the Family)
