Does anyone know how good they are at Rice? I know that Rice is mainly a sciencey school, but would it be worth it to go here for English or Psychology?

IDK, and I'm sure some CC readers can contribute, but you ought to consider contacting professors at Rice.

Ask for things like syllabi, distinctions, interesting material and disliked material.

Rice is not "mainly a sciencey school". Lots of students double major in two or more very different areas. Check out this site for the total numbers in each academic school. (I'm not sure if they double list students if they are double majoring or not.... )http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~instresr/ricefacts/academicschools.html

Rice was ranked No. 11 in the country for English. There's tons of courses in English that one can choose from. Not sure about Psych.

who cares about a ranking for english? you will like it or not based on personal taste of the professors. its not like math or mechanical engineering. theres no wow factor for getting through any english program with a high gpa. go visit some classes and talk to a lot of students/alums.

A bit overstated. If you want to go to grad school, it's true that top-notch gpa is taken for granted, especially in this time of grade inflation. After that -- and GREs, depending on where you're applying -- the "connectedness" of the faculty recommending you is perhaps most important. Top faculty know top faculty, and they recommend their top students to them.
