English/Psych Dept.

How popular are English/Psychology majors at NU? Could anyone provide more info about the two departments there?

The psych major is really really popular at NU. Every psych major I've met loves the department. The professors I've had are great- very enthusiastic and approachable. It's also known as a relatively easy major.

I've never taken a course in the English department, so I can't help you there.

You can look up additional info here:

Thanks for the links!

Psych is great at NU and as asdf11 said, extremely popular. I actually talk about the psych department and the intro psych class on my tours, because part of your requirements for Psych 110 is doing 20 hours of experiments, which is kind of a pain but actually pretty cool. Really great professors in the department, too.

I'm probably minoring in English--the one class I took was...eh, okay. I'm looking forward to my 300 level modernism class in the fall. I took intro to fiction and while there was interesting reading, the lectures were pretty useless and convoluted, but I think that had to do with the professor. My TA was very helpful, though. I think it's hit or miss depending on the classes, so just pay attention to CTECs.

Hmm, can anyone compare the english/psych departments at NU to, say, the ones at UChicago? Which school has the stronger departments, or would you say that they're right on par with each other?
