English (subject A) requirement

So I will be attending a community college next year and later transferring to UC Davis. On both the AP English exams (Language/Comp and Literature/Comp) I passed with a 3. On the Davis website it says that this fulfills the Subject A requirement, but at the community college I have to get a 4 or 5 to receive units. Will I still need to take an English class at the community college to be able to transfer? I'm not so much concerned with units as I am satisfying the English requirement. My intended major isn't English.

i got a 3 too, and from what i know, as long as your IGETC gets certified from your ccc, then you’re good to go.

Subject A is a requirement for freshmen. Once you complete the Reading & Comprehension requirements at your CCC, you will be fine for transfer.

Great thanks  Turns out my counselor is just an idiot and the AP English counted at my school as well. Ended up taking a class I didn’t need, but oh well.

you still have to take an english class. It just takes care of 1 out of the 2 required.

@Polkadott19. LOL you reply to the thread after 2 years later.
