English vs Biology, I don't know what to major in.

Hello,

As you can see, I am new to these forums. Well, new to posting on them, but I've browsed the forums candidly for some time.

I am currently 24 years old (24.5 to be exact ;)), and do not have a degree. I have some basic courses down, i.e. College Algebra, English 101 & 102, Polisci, Journalism, etc., but nothing significant.

Anyways, I am completely lost. I don't know what I should major in. English has always been a subject that came naturally to me. It was the one thing that, if I went to college, I always wanted to major in. However, recently, sciences, namely Biology, have become very interesting to me. If I had to choose a science, I'd go with a softer science like Biology or Psychology.

My issue in determining a major is because I still really want to major in English. Then, why not major in English? I am afraid I will not be living up to my potential. My end goal is teaching, and I think I would love teaching at a community college level. Whatever I major in, I plan on getting at least a masters (granted in may be a sub-field). I really love English, and Literature, I just don't want to look back on my life and wish I had do-overs.

Being 24, while it is young, it does concern me that I pick the "right" major. I'm already looking at finishing my BA/BS at close to 30 years old. And while that may be young compared to some, I don't want to be much older before I figure it out.

So, while I continue venting here, my question is, what are the job prospects in English, as far as teaching goes vs Biology or Psychology? What do you recommend I shoot for?

I've been tossing this over in my brain for the past year or so, and just feel utterly lost. Any advice or help would be nice. Also, I do not want to double major, and I'm not completely against a minor, but it doesn't interest me.

Thanks in advance.
