GOOD VIBRATIONS
What's the city like? Weather?

DIVERSITY
What are the men and women like? Religiously? I'm Buddhist. Praise the belly!

SOCIAL
I am a rad about-to-be senior and I love socializing with new people - drunks, smokers, hippies, chicks, dicks, jocks, etc basically anyone!

PARTY
A girls gotta unleash the wild side! Btw, do the people in SF smoke cigarettes or is it just maryjay all the way?

NIGHTLIFE
What is there to do in the night time? I'll be 17 when I start college which is extremsies young for a college age, but for some reason, I connect and interact with older people drama-free.

And anything else you might want to add, per say, everything else I didn't state!

TANKS

Hey, I’ll do my best to help you with Pitzer!

The city of Claremont is a sleepy college town. Although there are some nice restaurants and quaint shops, you’ll find that everything closes early and there is no nightlife. It is however close enough to L.A. to be nice! The weather is great too, mid-70s and sunny most of the time!

Pitzer is diverse as far as liberal arts colleges go. I would say that there is a decent amount of socioeconomic and cultural diversity. Religion at Pitzer, however, is a sore subject. Many students are atheist or do not have any religion, but you will find that most students are accepting of all others.

The social scene runs the gamut. There are a number of “stoner-hippie” types, but one should not let the stereotypes define. There are people that fit every social construct at Pitzer, and they all seem to coexist and party together.

Parties are mostly either large Claremont Colleges events, small dorm parties, or parties in the off-campus houses. Not much more than that to say…

The nightlife is mostly the party scene; very few students go to bars because there are so few locally. That said, the party scene is pretty decent, and because you have the 5 colleges together, you will be able to meet a bunch of interesting people! Makes for a good time.

As for extra stuff: The key to Pitzer (and Pomona etc.) is The Claremont Colleges consortium. It makes Claremont an amazing place to go to school both academically and socially. Check the colleges out!

Hope this helped a bit, and please ask some more questions if you have them about Claremont!

Erdnase, How do the students from the different colleges in the consortium get along? Are the students very different from college to college?

I’d say the students are quite different; it’s a great mix of people. There are the occasional rivalries and stereotypes, but overall I’d say the students all get along. Everyone hangs out with everyone, although your closest friends will most always be from your specific institution.
