Hi! I'm going to the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Math. I want to be a surgeon when I grow up! This being the case, I feel that if I do well academically and become involved, the. I'll have a chance in making it into one of the undergraduate ivy league schools. I know there's not a set amount of AP classes that these ivy league schools require but would these be enough:

-AP Human Geography.
-AP US History.
-AP Chemistry.
-AP Biology.
-AP Calculus BC.
-AP Computer Science A.
-AP Literature and Composition.

Please be honest and don't joke because I honestly have no clue. My goal is to get a 5 on every exam. I just took AP Human Geography.

About to be a junior. These are all the AP classes I plan to take, I haven’t taken them all yet though. Currently a Hispanic and number one in my class haha. But I’m about to go to a school that doesn’t rank. I’ve never made a grade below 98.

AP Human Geography is highly reputed to be the EASIEST or one of the easiest AP classes/tests. This shouldn’t be that hard to do at all, assuming you don’t wait until the night before the exam to start studying for it. The usual applies: do your homework, blah, blah, blah. Difficulty? Probably a 2-3/10.

AP US History (or what many people affectionately refer to as APUSH) is harder (duh…) than Human Geography. More memorization here, but nothing much farther than that. You have to write DBQs here, which are essays in which you incorporate outside sources from, but other then that, the exam itself is not that difficult. You may or may not have to do a lot of notes (I don’t know if you’re taking the classes or not), but if you don’t take a class and are self-studying it, be sure to put ample time into APUSH. Probably rank this one at a 5/10.

AP Chemistry is probably one of the hardest on your list in my honest opinion. Short of memorization, there is a lot of application involved, especially when it comes to the free response section of the actual AP exam. If you’re self-studying, this may be one to skimp out on, just because there is SO much information to learn and fully understand if you want to do well. In addition, lab time is crucial. Difficulty? A 7-9/10.

AP Biology is probably the second easiest AP science, although it isn’t that easy. College Board is restructuring this test as to make it more AP Chemistry-esque (more conceptual, as opposed to hardcore memorization). As such, I can’t give that much guidance on this test, though it shouldn’t be terrible. It would require lots of work though.

I can’t speak on AP Calc BC or AP Comp Sci A, as I haven’t taken or heard about much from or about either.

AP Literature would be VERY difficult if you aren’t accustomed to deeply analyzing passages from various time periods and are more of a science oriented person as opposed to a humanities specialized person. Once again, I can’t speak about this test either.

I didn’t find the Lit test to be overly difficult. That said, if you’re self-studying these I’d advise against self-studying Lit unless you’re used to deeply analyzing a variety of passages, as CantConcentrate said. Whether you’re self-studying or taking a class, be prepared to, as my teacher would tell us, “know at least two works backwards and forwards; know another one backwards, forwards, sideways and upside down.” While that is a slight exaggeration, you do need to know at least a few works fairly well and be able to discuss/analyze them for the third FRQ. The rest of the test comes down to analyzing passages and essay writing.

I can’t speak for Calc BC (school doesn’t offer it), but I did take Calc AB last year. I can comment on that test if you want, but I think it’d be a better idea to wait for someone that’s actually taken BC, haha.

To fill in what I can- ap calc bc has a reputation (at least at my school) for being very difficult simply because the material is very advanced. I’m not a math person so I’m taking next year knowing that it will be a challenge. If math “clicks” for you it might not be as hard. 6-9/10.

I don’t know much about sp comp sci but I know it’s in the same realm as ap chem, ap calc bc- it’s one of the more difficult ones.

I think that will be a good number and if you feel overwhelmed you could still drop one or two.
