I'm beginning my college search.
I have a few ideas in mind.
I really like Boston University, University of Chicago, University of Connecticut, College of William & Mary, and Villanova University. I LOVE Princeton University, but I know that's quite a long shot. I like Dartmouth as well, but I'm not necessarily going for an Ivy.

I'm taking at least 6 honors courses during high school, possibly more. So far, I know I will be taking 5 AP courses. Is that enough? I go to a private school and they do not allow us to take AP's in sophomore year, and there's only so many I can take in junior and senior years as far as prerequisites go.
So is 5 AP's enough? I might be able to add a sixth if needed.

How many AP classes does your school offer?

My school offers 12 AP classes.
I would be qualified to take 10 and possibly 11, but I cannot fit all of those into my junior and senior year schedules.

Please remove the idea that theres such a thing as enough Aps. Simply take courses you enjoy and do well. Colleges are more interested in seeing you challenged yourself rather than stretched yourself too thin in an attempt to impress them. Just make sure that when your counselor fills out your forms, shell be able to check took most demanding course load.

Thank you, IfIKnewThen.
It’s just that I’ve seen most people take 8+, so I was concerned that I was not taking the “normal” amount. But now I realize that there is no “correct” amount.
I’ll see what I can do to make sure my course load suits me.

I’m taking 6 total, but that is only because my school offers 8 AP courses, and one of them is music theory but I don’t play an instrument. If there are 12 possible AP courses, take as many as you can handle and take the ones that you believe would be most enjoyable.

My D goes to a rural public school that offers a total of 5 AP classes. One of the valedvictorians was accepted at Cornell and another kid was waitlisted at Harvard. It matters more that you took the most challenging courses the school had available to you. So don’t worry too much about AP classes. It sounds like you will take advantage of what is available to you. And test scores mean a lot too.
