So I signed up for the June SAT, and I'm starting to worry about the time I have left to prep. Is two months enough time to seriously prep on my own and with a class to get from a 1640 PSAT(didn't study) to a 2000 SAT?

Yes its enough

Relax. It is a good sign you are starting to worry. Take a blue book practice test and see where you are now. The PSAT is a long time ago. I bet you are closer to an 1800 now even without prep.

I just registered to take the one in May.. I am not even going to study until April 12 so I will have about 3 weeks. I am not too worried... 60 days is definetely sufficient for the score increase you want..

^ Why are you not going to study until the 12th?

I'm in the same position as Joe_L514. I can't study for the SAT until after I take the ACT on April 12. I'm still pretty worried if I have enough time for the May SAT. Good thing I studied over the summer....

Oooh, now I get it. :)

Oh, no, I actually have a research paper due on April 15th but I know I won't get to it til around April 10th... then I will probably take two days to knock it out and start my prep. for the SATs.... huge procrasinator.. I hate doing it but it is a very difficult habit to break.

Even if you don't get your score in June, just retake it in October. Do the best you can, but don't sweat it if you only come out with an 1850. For some, two months is plenty to increase 400 points (I assume you got a 164 on the PSAT, which I'd actually argue is closer to a 1600 than a 1650 considering the increased difficulty of SAT math compared to PSAT math), and for others, it may take six. Luckily for both people, a 2000 means the same in June of 1999 as it does in October of 2008.

I'd recommend saving some practice tests in case you do decide to take it again in October so you have something to study during the summer. The additional time will also give you a chance to improve your vocab, reading ability, and writing ability just by reading regularly. Regardless of your score in June, your score in October is likely to be very good. Don't sweat it.

Practice,Practice,every day up until June(about 3 days before the exam).Make sure to take 25 minutes out of your day to write an essay and get someone to grade it.

i agree with godfather bob.

Oh, this thread reminds me of those days when I used to study for my first SATs in June. :) Horrible days at the time, but great memories to look at now. I studied for five months and got a 1550, a 180pt increase from my PSAT score (137). Of course, I didn't take advantage of my time then and actually PRACTICE more than read, but I can't do anything now, can I? ^_^;

So, I say, based from my past experiences, the time you have to prep now is more than enough, if you just focus on solving tests and beating the time limit. I'm sure you'll go far if you just stick to that. Good luck!

I recommend you go to w w w. e p r e p . c o m (without the spaces of course). Very useful website. ;)
