Enough Time To Get To Class?

On two days I have two back to back classes which meet at opposite ends of campus. Are most professors cool if you are a little late for class?

if it’s a big lecture then they most likely won’t care (there are a few exceptions). don’t be late for small section classes. exactly what buildings are your classes in?

I would be late for a discussion on one day and the lecture for the other class on another day. I’d be going from CGS to KCB.

I wouldn’t worry about the lecture so much as the discussion. You may want to explain the distance you have to walk; I estimate it would take me roughly twenty minutes to walk the distance, so being late for class would be unavoidable unless you had miraculous luck and managed to catch a shuttle bus right after the end of your first class.

As I said, I doubt your lecture professor will have a problem with this. If your discussion instructor finds your lateness to be a disruption, perhaps you could switch into another discussion section that is more convenient. I’m sure it won’t come to that, however.

There’s no need to switch professors or anything, especially if you like the professor. You should ALWAYS explain the situation to both professors at the very beginning of the year–not that I’ve never been late, but entering a class late is a disruption. I’ve had this situation before and I think most professors would be just fine with leaving early from their class and impressed by your foresight and maturity. All of your professors were students at one point. Simply tell the appropriate professor that you need to leave maybe 5 or 10 minutes early and the other that you might be late, but you are doing your best.

and after telling both professors, make friends with someone in each class to catch up on what you’re missing by leaving a bit early and arriving a bit late.
