enough time to improve on SAT?

i've taken the SAT twice, not studying or caring for either time and doing badly (1800 total basically). i am a senior, but plan on taking the sat at least one more time in case i decide to transfer after my first year in college and because i just want to see how well i can do. im gettin my bleep together. anyway, if i study a bunch from now until march, would I have enough time to do well? my goal is to get a 2100 or more. my study plan is to get the official collegeboard SAT blue book, a barron's sat book, and possibly a couple tutor sessions. any hope for me? TY~

Finish the books then come back on collegeboard, because most people on here seriously “Talk” about finishing those books but never truely do.

you have time: everybody has time, but it’s more about how you use that time. If you get the books and do nothing, you won’t do very well. If you study hard, yeah, you can pull it off. What you need to do is to COMPLETELY go through the BB. Don’t worry about the Barron’s crap. Tutoring sessions sounds like a good idea, as long as its not from one of those big institutional companies.

And i’ll be damned if someone doesn’t accuse me of advertising because I’ve said this so much, but I really think that the mysterytutor site helped me a lot. Check it out and see if you like it.

If not, you’ll need to get some prep books. But seeing as I don’t know your subscores, I can’t recommend any specific ones because I don’t know which areas you are having the most trouble in.

Yeah, I agree with the above. So many people buy the books and just talk about how they want a 2100. The people who actually DO stuff and learn how to do things are the ones who have a better shot as a score they want.

I wanted a 2300+, so here’s what I did:

 • Bought/acquired every CB test I could
 • Took every single one under timed conditions
 • Analyzed each question and figured out what I knew/didn’t know and remedied any weaknesses

When I started I had a 2040 (680CR, 710M, 650W). When I emerged, I wound up with a 2340 (760 CR, 780 M, 800 W).

It’s possibe…just don’t be lazy and really push forth to try to get what you want. Obviously a good deal relies on ability, but a good deal relies also on diligence and tenacity.

So my advice to you, north_face, is to get off CC, get off the internet, turn off the TV, and start putting your heart into it. Only then will you get the score you desire.

Oh nicely put Arachnotron!
I was around north’s realm when I first started (1880; 680M 560CR 640W)
Just practice, check, review, and practice some more :]

I ended up with 2270 in Oct (800M 690CR 780W) and Dec (770M 700CR 800W). (sucks that I couldn’t improve, lol!)

So yeah~ its possible.

^wow anhtimmy, that’s pretty impressive

alright thanks for the support…time to buy the blue book and practice my heart out until march 14

question-- do most colleges accept the march sat or no? if like the deadline is January for February would they accept a march sat or prolly not?

also…getting like 700 on each secttion means how many can i get wrong ha…on each section of…6?..i kno theres a curve…but

700 Math ~ 4-5 wrong
700 CR ~ 6-7 wrong
700 Writing - depends on your essay. Could be -1 if you wrote a really crappy essay or -10 if you wrote a really good one.

kthnx sawyer :stuck_out_tongue: ^ that many wrong total for all the sections i guess right…and do u kno anything about accepting march scores? prolly not right? thnx

north are you a senior?
o_o

yeah i am lol…like i said im taking the sat again because…i might decide to transfer after my first year in college because of how much i slacked in high school… and because i just want to see how well i can do…if colleges would accept my score thatd be an extra bonus…itd be hard for me to do worse than 1800…altho i shuldnt jinx myself

Notice how he says it’s for a possible transfer.

what aj? 10char…

Someone posted that most colleges don’t accept the March SAT. That post has been deleted.

i thought i deleted that post just before ajwchin posted. anyways…sorry for the confusion.

You should definitely retake it and try your best to boost up your score to 2000+
