Enrichment Opportunities - mitadmissions.org

Hi,

I was surfing mitadmissions.org when I stumbled upon the section 'Enrichment Opportunities' where the Olympiads in which the United States participates are listed.

I would like to bring to your attention that the US has begun its participation in the International Philosophy Olympiad. The United States has participated in the IPO six times in the 20 years of IPO history including Vienna 2011 (International Philosophy Olympiad Vienna 2011 - Homepage) and Oslo 2012 (IPO2012). Before Vienna 2011, the USA competed four times until 2003. In 2001the IPO was hosted by the USA in Philadelphia. From 2003 until 2011, however, the USA did not participate.

The qualifying exam for selection into the USA team is called the United States Philosophy Olympiad (USPO). I, myself, will try and compete next year.

Quoting from the IPO site, 'The International Philosophy Olympiad (since 1993) for high school students, aims to bring about an appreciation for the subject and to foster critical thinking among the youth'.

Thanks
