When you have made your decision to enroll at Case Western Reserve, here is a link to an article for incoming freshman: 20 Tips for Every Case Western Freshman.
https://www.society19.com/20-tips-every-case-western-freshman/
And also here for those who have decided that CWRU is where you are enrolling to meet each other, and post whatever useful information about the college, Cleveland, getting there, carpooling?? you know what I mean.
https://www.case.edu/access-services/transportation/public-transportation/
Cleveland’s robust public transportation system includes both rapid transit and public bus services. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) gives the university community opportunities to minimize transportation costs. These include
Universal Pass or “U-Pass” - Full-time students automatically get a discounted pass to ride RTA anywhere, at any time
So I actually got full tuition provided I live on campus and keep a high gpa. I intend on majoring in the engineering field so I think Case will be great for me. I’ll admit I’m a little afraid to leave home lol even though I’m about a 20-30 minute drive away.
I haven’t accepted the offer but I most likely will since I only have to come up with room and board I think that’s how it works right? It specifically said four years eight semesters of full tuition.
Anyway I have lived in Cleveland my whole life and can comment on the weather and some other things. Well first the weather is pretty crazy and I should probably buy some boots, almost fell multiple times already even in front of my school.
I have been a fan of the Cavs ever since I could remember and watching them win that title was amazing(wearing cavs shirt while typing this lol) I also really enjoy baseball and even though we didn’t finish it, it was one of the best times I’ve had, we even went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the game. It was amazing to cheer with everyone, but then the next day we lost and we weren’t so cheerful when we went back lol.
I currently attend a early college program with the local community college downtown and it is fun to get out of school and go to a college campus. I’ve been in this program since somphmore year and have been doing community service on random Saturdays since. It is fun for me to work with the children and the adults I gotta say. I also went to Case with the program for college visits and went for an interview.
About the RTA transportation, it is kinda safe…I take it from both my high school(about 20min trip) and the college(45min-1hr) I almost got into a couple fights with kids but I think thats because they are just high school kids lol. When I take it from downtown I do have to stop and get on two busses and walk around tower city. I honestly feel safe enough to sit there with my headphones usually but don’t like to when switching busses.
I was so glad when I got accepted because I honestly wanted to stay close to home and the other place I was thinking about was Cleveland State.
Also considering I live so close do you think it would be a good idea to go visit my parents on Saturdays? It seems pretty ok with them and they even offered me a ride and I think that could be a good way to stay close to family. Also if I do this and eat at home there’s a way to save a meal off my plan right?
If I think of other things to say about case and Cleveland I’ll let you guys know.
I’m interested in Engineering and I also put medicine on my application but I think I’d enjoy engineering more.
I’m glad I found this page! I haven’t accepted my offer yet either but CWRU is my first choice and the amount of fin aid they gave me was unbelievable so there’s a high chance I’ll be attending. To go off of @Ege20634, I am into the idea of carpooling. I live in Catonsville, MD, which is just outside of Baltimore. Clearly, transport is the biggest obstacle to me closing the deal. If anyone would maybe want to discuss carpooling options, I’m all ears!
Cool, @Glang77 , IF I get accepted, I’d be happy to carpool. I am on the waitlist. Indicated that CWRU is my first choice if accepted. They also sent me an amazing financial aid letter, again IF they take me off the waitlist. It feels like they are teasing me. But hey, I will go even if I have to lose the deposit I will give St. Mary’s College of MD (my financial safety) if I don’t hear from CWRU until after the May 1st deadline. I was about to go to Baylor U. until I got that waitlist letter with the financial aid info from Case. It changed everything. I compared it to Baylor and realized I totally miscalculated what it would cost me to go to Baylor. Cha-ching even after financial aid! So… I looked down the road, again. Not so bad. At least its on the water and a beautiful location. I can row crew. Gotta look at the bright side. BUT if CWRU responds with a positive, I’m there.
hey guys!
