Enrolled Students: What major/minor will you pursue?

I, myself, will most likely major in Public Policy and Political Science. If it is not suicide, I may minor in Philosophy, Spanish, or Economics.

I most likely will intend law school;with Duke's help, hopefully Yale Law School.

In addition, I am curious as to whether your parents have any expectations of you career-wise? My mother expects for me to become a doctor;however, I have no passion for it anymore. I feel that I can excel at something I love--that being law/politics. I apologize for going off on a tangent; however, I could really appreciate some advice--in addition to your response to the Thread Topic.

Cya next year :)

biomedical engineering with a double minor in bio and maybe art :D

I want a double major in either bio or anatomy or anthropoloy.... and political science

"expects for me to become a doctor;however, I have no passion for it anymore. I feel that I can excel at something I love--that being law/politics"

this is just like me!

I figure, I'll do the Bill Frist route

likely public policy/international comparitive studies, turkish minor .

and the us navy says....how about we serve for at least 4 years.

then some form of grad school.

Hopefully math and econ, but we'll see. After today's test I feel like I'm not good at math anymore...

don't know what the big difference is between polisci and public policy

maybe economics also, I want to have business somewhere in there

my parents expected engineer, doctor

electrical and computer engineering... maybe minor in physics? is that possible?

poli sci = more theory based

pubpol = more policy, more reality (lame word, but it works) based.

it's like...one focuses on how and why things happen politically, the other, what should be done and how.

"My mother expects for me to become a doctor;however, I have no passion for it anymore. I feel that I can excel at something I love--that being law/politics."

wow that sounds just like me!! hehe.. i was supposed to become a neurosurgeon according to 'the plan'...

looks like i might do pol sci, econ or philosophy... aiming to go into law

on another note- almost everyone wants to do pol sci.....hmmm

thanks lex

i really like both, hard choice

Who knows? maybe finance so whatever gets me there. Or politics. so much to do.

it's pretty common to double with both....since a number of courses are cross-listed.

I want to do everything, I heard poliscience is a relatively Easy major or minor, I forget which one

I also heard Economics was easier than bio, but harder than polisci etc.

And that not many people double major even though they originally plan to

I hope I can though

my public policy TA is a chem/pubpol double major and a cheerleader....kind of the extreme, but it can be done. there's also a guy doubling in mech. e. and public policy. once again, normal people don't do this.

and be ready to work in econ. and poli sci. and bio.

the only majors widely regarded as "easy" are pysch and sociology.

and really, just take courses across the board freshman year....help narrow down what you like. i took a physics seminar, art history, etc....not within my expected major, but i enjoyed them. and they helped (ta da) broaden my range of knowledge. remember, college is one of the last places you'll be able to take all sorts of courses.

Gonna major in bio and maybe minor in math or chem

Majoring in psych and getting a cert and license in education.
It may seem easy, but hey, it's what I'll love.

definitely majoring in psych, considering a double major with either english or spanish (will probably minor in whichever one i don't double-major in) or maybe even a certificate in documentary studies...i really wanna do everything. it's going to be tough deciding what to eventually pursue.

and i don't mind that psych is considered the "easy" major. i've basically known i was majoring in it since i was 6 years old and already explaining away the meanness of some kindergarteners by saying they were "just projecting their insecurities as a defense mechanism"... that's what happens when you're raised by my mother :)

ooh, bio/law for me.

Majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering-perhaps minoring in Economics

Major in Environmental Science, minor in Sociology

I'll also be Pre-Vet
