Enrolling minimum units in Berkeley and taking CC classes

I decided to change my major jada jada and so I wanna take the minimum units and take 2 classes at BCC to catch up but my adviser told I COULD NOT do that if the classes are offered in Berkeley that term. I feel like you can but are strongly discouraged. Does anyone know?
I believe I am much more aware of my capabilities than any of you guys so I just wanna know if it is actually NOT possible or indeed possible.

yes it is possible to be concurrently enrolled. not sure why the advisor said you can’t do it…

The official policy is that you cannot take classes at another school in the same semester where you are registered at Cal. You would need to get a formal waiver to do this and it is going to be an uphill battle. If you ignore that policy, they are free to ignore the credits for the classes or to take other actions.

I would also make TOTALLY sure that the classes at BCC would be accepted for major pre-reqs. If the major is in any way capped, then taking classes at a CC might be looked down upon since you had the option to take them at Cal - presumably taking them where it would be easier or give you a higher GPA - and even if the real cause is the need to stay within 8 semesters while catching up for a late change of major, the assumption of grade whoring might stick to you for a long time to come (in the major, for grad school applications and in employment interviews).

For L&S, concurrent enrollment at a community college has this policy and form:
http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/fp/ConcurrentEnrollment.pdf

It probably does not look good to take core major requirements this way, especially if it is a capped major you are intending, or if you plan to go to graduate or professional school. Also, some capped majors require that major prerequisites be taken at Berkeley once you have become a student at Berkeley (even if there exists a community college course that articulates to the course on [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) ), so check the department web site for such requirements.

Which major and which courses are you considering taking at BCC?
