Enrollment deadline for accepted colleges before favored deferred college.

I was accepted into Hartford University, The University of Hawaii at Hilo, Averett University, Niagara University and Loyola University (Chicago). All of those schools with the exception of UH Hilo have enrollment deadlines before May 15th.

I was deferred from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Clemson University. Both of which are my preferred choice. UNC Charlotte and Clemson want to see my grades from this semester before they make a decision. UNC Charlotte has said that I would be accepted if my semester GPA is above a 2.4 I don’t see why that wouldn’t happen; however, there’s one class that keeps giving me doubt.

Should I take the safe route and go with one of the universities I’ve already been accepted into? I can’t exactly tell the admissions office for the other colleges that they’re my fail-safe option. I’ve applied to several epilepsy and food allergy scholarships and I’ve thought about telling them that I’m waiting for some of the results because ultimately my finances will most likely determine my choice. However, I doubt any leniency will be granted. If anyone has any sort of advice at all it’s greatly appreciated.

You need to pick from the ones you have received acceptance to and pay your deposit. Then, if you get into one of your favored schools, you can switch. You will be out the deposit (in most cases it’s non-refundable). Do not wait until after the deadline to choose from your accepted colleges or you’ll lose your spot.

Agree, deposit at a school you are accepted to. If a preferred school accepts you later then you can deposit with that school ad inform the first school that you will not be attending. Although you will lose the deposit at the first school, it is necessary to go that route in order to insure you have a spot somewhere next year.

Are those two colleges requiring final spring semester grades to make a decision? Can you have your counselor call and see whether “in progress” grades might suffice so you can get a decision before May 1?
