I notified NYU by email that I would like to cancel my $500 enrollment deposit before May 1st, but no one has responded in a week. Is the $500 deposit completely nonrefundable? I can't find any clear answers.

Help :L. I’m feeling rather ill about this entire situation especially since they have always responded to my e-mails regarding other inquiries. Why this one do they choose to ignore?

That last bit was half-sarcastic. I mean, of course, I understand why they would choose to ignore it ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$). But seriously?? W T F.

I don’t know about nyu specifically, but from what I understand once you sir, the deposit is theirs and they have no obligation to refund it and choose not to so I don’t think you can get that money back. You could try calling them though since they haven’t emailed back. I’m sorry and good luck!

they’re not going to refund it, dont bother trying
theres a reason why it says submit your NON-REFUNDABLE deposit when you send it in

Deposits are non-refundable.

Hey, everyone. Thanks for your responses.

@woopthack, Yes, I was trying to look for the deposit policy, but Albert closed it off once I had accepted.

I thought it was worth a shot since some other colleges refund it if you tell them before May 1st, but I guess NYU’s rep should have warned me otherwise.

What made you decide to deposit at NYU and then decide to go elsewhere?

gonna guess appealed fin aid, financial reasons, or WL

Spot on. Financial reasons among other reasons.

where’d you decide to go?
