Enrollment Fee

Wait, so the housing deposit is $250($225 is refundable) and you recommend paying it really early? This is separate from the decision and deposit you have to make by May 1st.

So, basically, if I pay my housing deposit by January and decide to go to a college other than Bama, I’m only out $25, correct?

Oh and what’s the pool party like? Lol, kind of a random question, but if Bama has like 5,000+ incoming freshman and 3-4 Bama Bound sessions, that’s like 1,000+, easy at each session. Must be a pretty big pool, lol.

Maybe I’m wrong here, but I don’t think you can pay the housing deposit unter after you’ve paid the admissions deposit, $200 non-refundable. So if you pay that and housing deposit and decide not to attend you’re out the $200 admissions plus the $25 housing remainder.

AL34 is correct about both deposits. Room selection is based on the date one pays the housing deposit and electronically signs the housing contract (Alabama requires one to be 19 to sign contracts, so the parents of freshmen usually have to do the electronic signature (aka check the “agree” box or something like that). The priority deadline for housing is March 1, but pay NOW if you are planning on attending. You will have a better selection of rooms come room selection in the spring. If you don’t attend UA, you will be out $225 of your $450 deposit.

There are about 20 Bama Bound Sessions, all capped at about 300 students each. The outdoor pool/lazy river/water slide is quite big. The pool party is just that, a party with the pool, music, drinks, and ice cream. It is very fun and ends early enough (around 9pm) for freshmen to do other things that night.

AL34, after I posted my message, I realized you probably did that. I don’t know of any such group in Tuscaloosa, but one may exist.

AL34

What extracurricular is that?

:)

oops, never mind…I’m blind…steel band… :)

Coolege…

oops…I’m sorry if I somehow gave the impression that there are only 3-4 Bama Bound sessions. There are MANY Bama Bound sessions. a long list of dates…I’ve never counted the number, but they tend to have 1 or 2 sessions a week …They start in May and go into August.

So, the pool party isn’t too crazy. The pool area is very big…with a water-park style lazy river and big slide.

Auburn already has our non refundable tuition deposit and housing deposit. We are going to visit Bama Friday for University days. If Bama impresses, as I think they might, we may end up giving them the tuition deposit as well…I’m not real happy about losing $225, but oh well.

^^^^

Have fun at University Days! Let us know how it goes!

Someone asked me about the UA Pool Complex, so here is the info…

The Bama Outdoor Pool Complex includes:
-Multi-purpose pool with Lazy River
-Open Tube Water slide (safety restrictions apply)
-Separate Toddler Pool
-Two 25 yd Lap lanes
-Separate Shower Rooms and Family Changing Rooms
-Bama Dining Snack Bar

UA admissions hasn’t yet posted the Bama Bound dates (registration starts Feb 1) but the parent orientation page has. Freshman 4, 5 and 6 sessions say “Freshman (Learning-Living Communities)”. Does that mean ONLY students wanting the learning-living communities may go to those sessions? I want my daughter to go to an early session, and those are the earliest that work with our schedule (she just missed being Honors eligible).

I. *

If she’s close by test scores, can she take the SAT or ACT again? The Honors College might accept a later score.

I don’t know about the restrictions for Bama Bound Living/learning. I would just think that the “talks” might not reflect her needs if there is a lot about those programs discussed.

Back to honors…

What is she short on? Maybe that can be resolved.
