Can you confirm enrollment and pay the deposit now, but wait to confirm housing? It says on the website that housing confirmation is part of the two-step confirmation process. I know for a fact that I'm enrolling, but as far as housing goes, I need some time to make a decision. I'm as of right now unsure of whether or not I'm going to commute, as well as roommate requests. Also, I've already submitted the enrollment form but have yet to pay the deposit (since I don't know if I have to confirm housing now).

Keep in mind, however, that housing assignments are made in the order in which you confirm housing. Before last year, you couldn’t request housing without paying a (non-refundable) housing deposit. D1 was waiting to hear from a school that had one of the “late” acceptance dates, so she held off on confirming until almost the end of April…As a result, she ended up in a triple in Denton. Luckily it was one of the planned triples (forced triples usually occur every semester), but with 3 girls’ worth of stuff that room was packed. Both of her roommates had been in the same boat as she. It was a great improvement to make it a two-step process. In your case, I understand the delay, but don’t wait until the very end to decide, or you may find yourself in a triple if you do decide to live on campus.

And not only may you find yourself in a planned triple, but be forced into a flex triple :(

UMDCP is infamous for their housing shortage and I know several people who decided that it was better to lose a couple of hundred bucks in case they went to another school then to be in a flex room.

One thing to realize is there are flex rooms across campus including new and old leonardtown. The downside for getting those dorms is that your roommates will most likely not be freshman, but sophomores that chose to dorm together, making you the odd man/woman out. Again it should be noted that if those rooms were forced to convert into a flex for the returning students, they have the choice to decline you for spring…meaning you may move 2x in your freshman yr.
