When I click: Go to enrollment it shows that one of my classes that is in my primary bookbag is full but with 0 ppl waiting. I have the first registration window. Will I still get the class even if it says its full now?

If it's full it means....well, its full. If you enroll in the class, you will be on the waitlist at the #1 position. Usually, those high spots on the waitinglist typically get in because a few people drop during the first few weeks. If you register for it, email the prof and see what he/she thinks about your chances.

PS I'm not sure if this is right or not, but I'm not sure that you incoming first-years can join a waitlist. I think this is because they want to make sure you have a full 4 classes set when you come to school. Might want to double check that though.

(Nope you're right...first years cannot waitlist, atleast with the initial registration...I'm not sure when it's acceptable)

If you really want that class, keep an eye on it during add/drop, because spots always open up. Spots may even open up during the summer.

I emailed a professor about a full class and she said I could register for it if I wanted. Do I need a special code or something so I can join the waitlist? Or is her approval enough?

JMAN - she'll have to give you a permission number for you to actually enroll in the class if it is full. Faculty can generate their own permission numbers using the SISS system.

Yea, she can give you the permission number. She probably doesn't realize that first-years can't register for full classes.

So I read https://www.siss.duke.edu/queue_faq/.
If a class we try enrolling is full, such as their PubPol example on the bottom of that site, what do we do next? Do we go to our bookbag, put a new class in our primary bookbag, and go back to the registration site to g a new place in line?
Also, lets say I'm in position 400. Will I see the status for classes update as I wait my queue in line? If so, if I see a class become full, what should I do?
Thanks!

Yea what you do is keep an extra "2nd choice" in your primary bookbag that will fit in for classes that you think might become full. Also, as you were asking, you will see the number of seats left in a class updated in real-time, so you will know before your turn is up whether or not a class is full. It's really just a guessing game. Chances are, if you are 400th in line and there are only 3 seats in a class, you probably wont get it. Anytime there are 10 or more seats, its a pretty safe bet that you can get it.

Thanks!
Also, the Pilates teacher told me she couldn't give me a P number since there's people on the waitlist. And that I should put myself on the waitlist. But it sounds like you guys think that freshman can't use waitlists, so what do you recommend I do to get in the class?

I'd just keep my eye on it throughout the rest of summer/during drop add. Honestly though, Pilates/Yoga and stuff are usually pretty popular classes so they're much harder to get. Your best bet is to just keep an eye on it, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Keep in mind there are also group fitness classes offered in Wilson on a regular basis, and I believe Pilates is one of them, so that's always an option.

Yea, the group fitness one might be the way to go. Since it's not a class, you're not required to show up, so you don't have to make up missed classes like you do for a PE class. Also, since its just a PE class, you can waitlist during drop/add and you'll almost definitely get let in. I mean, it's not an academic course, so the more the merrier.
