I am not sure if I will go to Pitt depending on the financial packet I get and I'm also waiting to hear back from another college. I know that I won't get my first pick on housing if I don't pay my enrollment right now. Should I wait until I'm sure about going to Pitt, or should I pay right now even if I end up changing my mind about going to Pitt?

I believe if you pay, that means you cannot get the money back if you decide to go to another college. So don’t pay right now unless your 100% sure. May I ask of your stats?

Per Panther Central (a couple of days ago), everyone is put into a lottery for housing as long as you send in your paperwork/housing deposit by the due date. There is no need to send in the enrollment deposit early (it is non-refundable). You won’t have a better chance of getting the dorm you want if you send it early.

Hmm, our stats are almost the same except that we have different EC’s. Maybe I did not submit a well enough written essay. Haha, i wish i was as lucky as you!

You didn’t get accepted? That sucks! But yeah, the essay really makes a difference!

I’m thinking about sending in a new essay and my new stats for appeal. But no, I didn’t get accepted into Oakland

You should send them again! Good luck!

Idk if they encourage prospects to send in new essays and LOR’s

This is true. If you have already sent in 1 essay and 2-3 LORs do NOT send more. Instead, send them an updated transcript of your (ideally) improved grades. If you retook a test (ACT/SAT) and got better scores, send that in as well. The additional essays/LORs won’t help with admittance at this point.

Thank you for clarifying AwesomeOpposum. I e mailed oafa and asked them if I could retake my SAT and send it in and they said yes! I’m aiming for a 1800-1900 this time. Been studying so hard! 3 hours every day haha

not to hijack but how tough does it get if you apply around March April ? Is it almost impossible to get in unless you have over 2000 SAT and 3.8 GPA ?

I would say really hard. Every college that isn’t rolling is required to announce their decision by April 1. I would imagine Pitt would stop accepting students soon after (since most schools requires matriculation by May 1).

Hi Alee17
Keep in mind that if the financial aid package Pitt first offers you, there is always the option of asking them to reevaluate you and see if you can get a higher scholarship.
Write a letter of appeal explaining that you are between two schools, but saying Pitt is your first choice and you are really looking to make it possible for you to be able to come here.
If there’s anything else you’re wondering I’ll try to help you out! :)
