Hey guys, I'm planning on transferring to LSA for fall 2012 as a sophomore (currently have a 4.0 college GPA and above median high school stats). Right now I'm a polisci major planning on law school, but I was considering having a BBA as a backup due to an oversatured legal market etc. Since Ross requires 27 hours earned on campus, would it be possible to enter Ross as a junior and if so graduate in four years? (note: I'll be coming in with with 30 transfer hours and 30 from AP credits). Additionally, how unheard of is it to keep a >3.7 in Ross?

I don’t think it is possible to enter Ross as a junior and finish in four years. I think you could apply to Ross as a transfer student although they take fewer off campus transfers than they used to.

If you have to take a fifth year to finish Ross, I would consider looking at a JD/MBA joint degree program which takes only an extra year than law school. a JD/MBA/AB would be better than a JD/BBA/AB.

Ross is a 3 year program, they don’t let you do it in 2 years.

Interesting. First of all as far as I understand I probably wouldn’t be admitted to Ross as a transfer without work experience, or rather my GPA probably isn’t enough to get me in alone. I have been looking at a dual JD/MBA, but the problem there is I would be hard pressed to get to into an MBA program without work experience as well, and the BBA would be more of a fallback in case I didn’t get into a good JD program (T14 school). What do you think?

Also since its only 45 credit hours and I won’t really have any other requirements wouldn’t four years be possible?

Ross isn’t overly flexible with the core course scheduling which is why it can’t be done in three years.

Ok thanks, it looks like my best bet to stick with the JD/MBA. Do you think I would have any chance as a transfer to Ross with a 4.0 but with only work experience as a tutor for my college?

I would recommend applying for the transfer to LSA and the transfer to Ross. Most of the students in the BBA program have no meaningful work experience beyond a summer job. Ross is a reach but seems to be where you want to be heading if you can get in.
