I received a letter today from Pitt that invited me to visit and offered to recompense me for part of my travel expenses and to provide a hotel room for me and my parent(s). Is this pretty common, or should I consider it to be something more?
Also, what specifically is the Chancellor's Scholarship?

I have never heard to Pitt offering to pay for travel expenses and a hotel. You must have something Pitt wants! Here’s some info about the [Chancellor’s Scholarship.](http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/opportunities/chan-scholarship.html)

Pitt also sent me that a while back before they offered me the full tuition scholarship. I can’t take advantage of their free travel money because it’d probably cost me 1k there and back per ticket for each person coming from Hawaii.

Pitt offered to cover my traveling fees when I visited last year. Usually they do it with students who they are interested in, so why not take advantage of it?
