Hi, I was checking the status of my application to UC Irvine and just realized that I haven’t met the Entry Level Writing Requirement. It probably refers to this: http://writing.uci.edu/writing_requirements/
I scored poorly in the writing section of my SAT Reasoning Test, but I think that I will score at least 5 in my IB course English Lang & Lit HL.
Should I tell my teacher to send them the predicted IB score in order to meet the requirement, or they need the official score? (I will take my IB exams in May 2015)
Does it influence their decision for my application?
P.S. I am an international student but I am attending a U.S. High School since my junior year.
I forgot to mention that I applied as a freshman for Fall 2015, and my major is Business Administration.
You will be sent a letter if you do not meet the reuirement to take the writing exam in May. They will not accept predicted scores, so you are just better off taking the AWE just in case.
So I’ll need to take the writing exam only if I get accepted? Or should I take it before? (I don’t live in California)
The test is not until May so you will know your acceptance status by then. If you are accepted and have not passed the writing exam by then, you will need to take the test eventually. You have to pass the requirement by the end of your sophomore year, so you could always take the writing test after you start school if you still have not passed that requirement.
Alright, but will this influence their decision?
No, it will not influence your decision. Many applicants are required to take the exam.
