Guess most have heard by now about their majors. Autos got emails earlier and another email just went out.
Was wondering how the departments with few spots managed it this year. ChemE probably has 150 (guess) spots. So if 300 kids had a 3.5 GPA end of year and selected chemE they are now in that major. Would sophomore year have more weeding out to bring that number back to the smaller limit? Or, will departments have to expand their program size depending on demand? It will be interesting to see what happens.
Someone got into chen with a 3.2 gpa so I’m guessing they increased their enrollment size.
That could be a special case. Anyone with a 4 year department scholarship was auto in with a lower GPA (whatever minimum was needed on that scholarship). Also maybe NMF were auto in (for chen). Each department does it differently.
Did you see entry stats somewhere?
Aware of someone with a 3.3 who got into Chem. No special case/circumstances like described above. Also a 3.0 that got Aero. Quite a few review applicants got into Mechanical as well, so guessing they increased the number of seats in the highly competitive majors. Still, hearing of some who got into their third choice major. Stats, when they come out, will be intesting.
It’s good to see that < 3.5 GPA got into the competitive majors. Some relief for the next batch that applies.
Was Industrial Engineering or Industrial Distribution competitive?
