Just wondering because I've heard mixed rumors... Are acceptances at U of Chicago in a big envelope or small? Congrats to everyone admitted... could you enlighten me?

this was posted by another member in another thread...

The decision information is mailed in a large envelope ($2.44 postage: first-class) along with several other pieces of writing in regards to dorms, the initial deposit, etc...at least for those who receive word of acceptance.

I think it is bigger than the average size envelope you get every day.

i heard that last year ppl got big envelopes in funky colors (e.g. purple)

The initial envelope is probably a bit larger than 8.5x11, I'd probably guess ~ 9x12, and inside there there's a portfolio-type thing that unfolds.

My deferral came in a standard envelope.

The acceptance enveloped is pretty big. The folder inside the envelope is absolutely georgeous.

vtoodler is right. The portfolio/folder thing is a beauty.

i agree, it's simply beautiful.

For some reason, the thought of the size of the envelope bothers me more than anything else...the human mind is an odd thing.

I got mine today (I live in Maryland, very close to DC)

It was a big envelope. What you'd expect to get a viewbook in. It has a really pretty folder that comes with it.

There deferral letter comes in a very plain, small envelope. I wish I did not know this.
