Environment vs. Academic/Career Opportunities?

@ucbalumnus‌ I got in-state tuition for UMN, so would my CoA be around $25k. That woul be cheaper than the UCs (going off of their website)

If I go to a UC, it’ll most likely be UCSD. Their estimated CoA in-state is $31,245. I think their ChemE program isn’t that great, though.

My dad will most likely pay for UIUC. If not, my CoA will probably end up a little under $40k with my scholarship.

I perused the rules for establishing residency excessively. My plan is to live Texas year-round and work 20 hrs/week. I’m just not sure if it’s viable to work that much as an engineering major. I’m also considering taking up a minor, which may make it even harder. If worst comes to worst, I can marry a Texan
