Essay topic: I’m talking about how I reconstructed the recycling program at my high school since it was cancelled due to funding several years back.
What is your math scores and what math classes are you taking?
Do you live in Georgia ? Its easier for in state students to get in.
Yes, you should apply! Your grades and test scores are a bit below average, but your ECs are fantastic. Admissions will eat up a story about “reconstructing the recycling program at my high school since it was cancelled due to funding several years back.” You showed initiative and leadership while making an impact in your community and you have a otherwise strong record of leadership at your school. Academics are not your selling point as a Tech applicant, but they seem adequate. How many AP courses did you take? If you’re OOS it could be harder for you to get in, but you still have a strong enough application and story to apply, and you should.
Update: I do live in Georgia
Math: 750
Reading: 660
Ap classes: 13
Thanks guys!
& took AP Calc BC last year so currently taking multivarible calculus
@michaelmandujano Thats an excellent math score. Note that if your valedictorian at your high school applies to GaTech, they will get in automatically, with any test score. But that should not dissuade you, but just be aware.
Also having the two calculus classes is exactly what GaTech is looking for so you are in good shape. If your Bs are mostly in English/history etc then you have a very good chance I believe. Your science and math grades matter more, but they are a state school and may have cutoffs for GPA some years, its not like they spend hours reading essays, they get too many applications for that type of care, but they do love students like you. Good luck.
