Environmental Engineer vs Geological Engineer

Hi!
I am a high school senior tied between being an environmental engineer and a geological engineer. I know the best solution is to wait until I get in college and take a few classes so I can see how I feel about both majors. Sadly, I can't do that because the schools I'm looking at either offer environmental engineering OR geological engineering.

Mississippi State offers environmental engineering (and not geological engineering) through their civil engineering program.. I'm not sure what it means to have it related to the civil engineering program. But they will waive out of state tuition for me and give me considerable scholarships that will pay for all but room/books.

University of Mississippi offers geological engineering, but they won't give me in state tuition. They also don't have env engineering. I can still get some good scholarships there, but I will be paying the out of state costs, which is quite a bit more.

I really want to have a job where I get to spend a lot of or at least some time outdoors. I want decent pay and good job outlooks. I don't want to be stuck in an office all the time or staring at a computer. Which degree would suit better for those needs? I'm thinking its geological, but I'm really torn. Pleas help. Pros/Cons and description of each job and your thoughts would be awesome!

Civil engineering will leave both options open, at least to some extent. MSU sounds like a good choice. Why are you so intent on going to school in MS if you are OOS?

Because going to MSU is cheaper than going to an in state school because they are going to give me in state tuition and major scholarships. Ole miss will not do as much but my home state doesn’t offer geological engineering and ole miss does.
