Getting a 4 or above on this AP exam gives you credit for Environmental Studies 202. I was looking at the undergrad bulletin, and ENST 202 is a class with a required lab and therefore fulfills your one lab science requirement. This is probably a really stupid question, but since I got a 5 on the exam, do I really not have to take a lab science?

As someone who is avoiding math and science in college, this just seems to good to be true to me, and it also just seems a bit odd that an AP class (especially such a bs one) could count for a lab science credit.

I’m in the same boat (got a 4 on the AP) and let me tell you: It’s glorious.

One more thing: I STRONGLY advise you to take a science FYS so you can completely knock out the science requirement at UNC. Firstly, FYSes are basically impossible to fail if you show up, and you’re pretty much guaranteed at least a B. Pretty good for a science class, yeah? You can take one your first and/or 2nd semester and the selection is generally pretty good for science classes.

Thank you! This just made my day. And what types of science do they offer for FYS? Like are they overall mostly about issues in science and the community and whatnot it is it a science class?

I was planning on taking a psychology class for my other science because I’m taking AP psych this year, but I do want to take as many FYSs as I can.

Well, you can go and look at the FYS UNC website for the spring listings, but there’s generally 1-2 chem ones, 1-2 marine science ones, 1-2 geology classes, 1 bio, etc. It’s a pretty good selection, IMO.
