My son has been accepted at Humboldt, waitlisted for SLO and we are waiting for decisions from the UC’s. Does anybody have any thoughts or experiences they can share about the Environmental Science programs at these schools? Thanks! :)>-
I would first compare the curriculum’s for each schools Environmental Science program. Is there a specific emphasis that one school offers that your son would be interested in pursuing?

What is affordable? The Cal states will be more affordable the UCSC depending upon if you qualify for FA.
Look at the Career Center website job and internship postings. This may help gauge which companies recruit from campus.
Finally, where does your son feel most comfortable. Which school does he see himself spending 4 years.
A happy student= successful student
My older son will be graduating as an Environmental Science major this spring from UC Davis. He was accepted to both UCSC and SLO and used similar criteria to make his decision.
Thank you, @Gumbymom!
We took tours at SLO and UCSC. My son fell in love with the SLO campus. He liked UCSC also but he felt the campus was too spread out and lacked a central quad area. I loved Santa Cruz and I hear many students are placed in internships. We didn’t tour Humboldt and I wish we had. My son loves the area. We received info regarding the Klamath Connection and it seems to be what he was looking for. As a mom, I am worried about the logistics of traveling back and forth to So. Cal. I appreciate your input. I have learned so much from this forum!
I believe you cannot go wrong with any of the choices, but I agree with the traveling logistics from So. Cal where we also happen to live. HSU would be the most difficult. SLO was more of a travel issue 4 years without a car (did not have a car for the first 2 years) for my son than UCSC (shuttle to SJSU airport) or UCD (shuttle to Sacramento airport).
