I "think" AP environmental science is more interesting to me. But, it seems AP biology is the more challenging and rewarding route (to colleges and for college credit). Advice?

personally i would take bio

I am taking both classes right now. Generally, Bio is much more rigorous than Enviro, but in my school Enviro is harder because the teacher makes up ridiculous tests. AP Biology is still a lot of work.

It just depends on how rigorous your current schedule is. If you can handle the extra work, go with Bio. Bio is much more material and will definitely be much harder.

what do u do in AP environ? can u self study for that?

you can self study for anything, i think it's easier for Bio tho

No self-studying for AP Enviro will be a joke. I saw the last year's AP Enviro test and its much easier than the tests in my school.

Just get the REA AP Enviro book and Smartypant's and you will do fine on the AP test.

DON'T SELF study for AP Bio. Too much material too cover. There are a lot of things to memorize.

I've taken Bio and I'm in Environmental Science right now. Even though I got a B in Bio, Environmental Science is way better to take because it makes you aware of what is going on in the world today and opens your eyes to finding ways for you personally to better the environment, as to where biology will pretty much only come in handy if you go into specific fields of study in college.

take ap bio. easy 97+

^um that definitely depends on your school.

AP Bio isn't too tough, and it is my favorite high school course.

haha it's so tough at my school

it doesnt depend on the school. ap bio is pure memorization.

no, lol. =P not at my school. 4/5 of the stuff you see on the test you've never even seen anything remotely like it. you gotta reason to your answer. Maybe that's why everyone in the history of AP bio in my school has gotten a 5

I've got the exact same dilemma as the OP, although probably for different reasons. In my school AP Bio is REALLY hard...it pretty much has the rep for being the hardest course in the school. On the other hand, AP Enviro is supposed to be barely worthy of the two letters AP. I don't know much about what to expect in Enviro so I don't know if I would enjoy the course, but I actually really like bio, surprisingly enough (since I tend to be a humanities person). I know I should probably take AP Bio, but it'll be junior year and my GPA isn't exactly insignificant. I've actually been told that I would be slacking off by taking AP Enviro though.

So I was just wondering if AP Enviro is generally perceived as easier than AP Bio, or if it's just my school?

loh3x7a, keep in mind that some colleges will not even grant credit for environmental science. Also, environmental science is a semester's worth of credit versus a year's worth for biology. So of course, environmental will be 'easier' because there is less material.

Likewise, environmental science is seen as the easiest AP science in my school. I am currently signed up for AP Biology and AP Physics.

Yea, AP Env is seen as a lot easier than AP Bio, I'd say just slightly harder than AP Stat. Kids in my school refer to those two as the AP Studies except AP Env has .5 more credit to it. AP Bio is really fun, I would recommend taking it, but again that is different in each school.
