Environmental Science or Environmental Studies?

I am a rising senior in my high school in North Carolina. I am starting to think about what I want to study in college and I have decided I want to study environmental science or something of that nature.

I am not sure if I should double major in Environmental Science and Biology or if I should double major in Environmental Studies and Biology.

What is the best major I should study if I want to be an Environmental scientist? Which option would enable me to go to a good graduate school or find a good job?

Thanks so much

Sincerely,
Maritza M.

Either option would allow you to go to grad. school and/or find a good job in the field. But you could do that with a number of non-“environmental” degrees. The difference is that the Science degree is usually geared to hands-on scientific work, while the Studies option leans toward policy analysis. I’d take a look at curricula at potential schools and see which one is more interesting. Personally, I’d make sure that you have a solid background in science courses regardless of your focus. Ask away if you have more questions.
