Environmental Sciences & Policy Major

I’m applying to Duke RD as an Environmental Sciences and Policy major in Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment. I had a hard time deciding between that and Environmental Engineering since my interests really go along with both areas. How hard would it be to change my major to Environmental Engineering once I’m at Duke if I enter in the Environmental Sciences and Policy and realize that the other goes more with what I want to do later? I want to be sure I’m entering the right major, but in case the other is better, how easy is it to switch? Thanks!

Generally speaking, it’s much easier to switch from Pratt into Trinity than the other way around. I don’t think it’s a procedural thing so much as the Pratt curriculum has some specific requirements for those first couple of semesters. Like I said above, I wouldn’t worry about that now since you can’t transfer until after the first semester anyways, and by then you will have met a bunch of people and advisors that can help you.

If you get accepted to Trinity, you can enroll in Pratt courses first semester and then transfer afterwards. It is super easy.

Thanks for your help! I’ll let you know what happens!
