Environmental Studies

So I was looking at Cornell's website, and saw that environmental studies (b.a. degree) is an option in the college of agriculture and life sciences. That along with economics are something that stands out to me major wise.

Could someone explain how Cornell's system works on whether you can major in one college and minor in another? And if I wanted to do environmental studies, I would have to declare college of agriculture and life sciences, right?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!

You can usually minor across colleges, but as far as I know, economics does not have a minor. You could, however, minor in Applied Economics and Management, which is a major within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It’s pretty different from Economics in Arts and Sciences, though, so you’ll definitely want to read up on it.

you would not “declare” CALS (ag & life sciences), you would apply to CALS. also, which major on this page are you planning on? I don’t see anything called environmental studies but I feel like I have heard of it before, but I can’t recall whether it was about Cornell or in some other context.
