I just applied to the economics major, and on the back there is a spot where you check off if you are an EOP student (which I am). Does this help me in any way to getting into the major?

Thanks

Keep in mind that you cannot apply for both early action and EOP. EOP is the education opportunity program and is very selective. You can be considered for EOP, but that does not guarentee you a spot for the program. Applying for EOP does increase your chances because if they find that you are not qualified for the EOP then they check to see if you are qualified for general admission.

General Qualifications for EOP vary upon each school:

Usually they want a student with a mean average of 80-85
Low SAT score without the writing part of a 800-1000
ACT score of 20

4 units of English
4 units of Social Studies
3-4 units of mathematics
2-4 units of science (minimum of two units of lab science)
2-4 units of a language other than English

You have successfully taken NYS Regents Algebra I and Geometry and scored a minimum grade of 65 on both the Algebra I and Geometry Regents exams (or the course and exam equivalent).

Thats basically what they are looking for. Go to your college of choice’s website and see the requirements.

Good luck.
