I was accepted to the EOP program but I'm not really sure what this is all about. I've checked out the website for it but I'm still a bit skeptical. Does anyone have any experience, or know anyone who has experience, with this program? What are the major benefits you've acquired via EOP? Thanks for your help.

Main benefit – priority for co-op housing.

Only benefit I’ve derived so far.

what’s co-op housing?

cheap, cheap housing. If you ever want a cheap apartment (maybe $2000 a semester?), the co-ops offer them - and 80% of them are offered to EOP students.

there’s also advising geared towards EOP students, but I’m not sure how useful it is. Never been.

I just did a search, looked at some of their housing unit pictures, and it looks incredible. Why haven’t I heard about this yet??!! Haha!

Are there any major downsides? They’re cheaper, seem more spacious and comfortable than the units, and are closer than the non-units…

co-op apartments? I heard they’re on the dirty side (like most of the co-ops). Also, you have to do some work shift hours, spiffing up the place ( <10 hrs for the apartments per semester). Otherwise…they’re cheap. And kind of hard to get into when you don’t have co-op points. I have a friend who lived in an apartment for one summer and stayed on the waiting list for the whole year before signing an academic year contract. They’re easier to get into for the summer.

Oh really? Wow. I’m an EOP student but I’ve never done anything with it…
