EOP Qualifications

Hey I was wondering what people think of the EOP/HEOP at Cornell. Do you think its fair, etc?

Also for someone who applied to Cornell for fall 2006, should I consider Cornell a reach, match based on their sat range on their site or on this.

http://www.suny.edu/Student/downloads/pdf/2005_eop_profile.pdf

p.s. my sat score is a 1270 and I applied to Human ecology. My gpa is 92 uw and 94 w

Well, your in the top 75% of the EOP range. did you happen to read the thread entitled "SAT Scores"? I think it would do you well to read it. Just relax, dude.

Oh look at that. I guess I was wrong about the GPA/SAT cap. Looks like income is the only quantitative requirement. Good luck.

back in the day- there was a cap of scores and gpa. i don't understand why. my mother almost didn't get eop becuase she had high scores and gpa eventough her economic situation was dire

did your mom end up qualifying for eop?

"my mother almost didn't get eop becuase she had high scores and gpa eventough her economic situation was dire"

wow ok Im slow. I apologize. Did she end up going to the program?

bumpppppppp

does being admitted to EOP automatically make you accepted to Human Ecology? I'm not exactly sure how this 'EOP' works; can someone explain?

EOP = equal opportunity program- it gives financial assitance to students who parents can't afford to pay for a college education

doesnt the program also lower the academic standards for people applying for that program?

well they assume people of a disadvantaged socio-economic background would not have the educational resources to be able to obtain high academic standards becuase of the eniviroment and influences and circumstances they live in. so yes the academic standards are lowered it seems from a another viewpoint but relative

abike11: you were saying how your mom qualified for eop. Did she end up attending the program? How were her stats?

yes she did. i don't know her stats but they were above the cap then. im talking like the 1970s

how did she feel about the program after enrolling?

i don't know never had a conversation about it and if i did ask her she would be like -why r u bothering me about this i don't remember. sry i can't help u

Hmmm, I applied to EOP when I was applying as a freshman and they said my SAT score was too high (how often do you hear that???)
