Epworth

Does anyone have any info on Epworth? Like size of rooms, location, overall feel of dorm. Thanks!

Locationwise, its right behind Aycock which means its relatively close to the busstop and the Marketplace (thats key). It is off of the main quad on East so it is kinda isolated in that respect. As for overall dorm feel, lets put it this way...Epworth was going to be changed into temporary classrooms for this year, but current and former residence made an enormous push 2nd semester to keep it as a dorm so apparently they liked their stay. My friends who used to live in Epworth say that it has a really close feel where you'll know everybody from your dorm, which is something you won't get in the bigger freshmen dorms. I've never been in a room but I heard that they are average to big. Hope this helped.

Thanks, Duke 25. Anyone else been in a room?

In my opinion, Epworth is the most unique dorm on East Campus. Although my daughter didn't live there, she knew of many Epworth residents who really loved it. Its location is great - near to bus stop, Marketplace/post office/convenience store and dance studio (for Duke's many dancers). Its small size really does enhance dorm unity. Beyond that, you just have to see it to appreciate its beautiful architectural style.

They weren't going to use it as a dorm except that Duke overenrolled

To be a little more clear: it was a dorm, they were going to use it for offices while some other buildings are getting remodeled, but as Amused said, they overenrolled and need to keep it open to have enough beds this year.

People who live there seem to like it a lot.

Thanks for all the replies
