Equestrian team?

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I am considering applying to Vandy as a transfer student for next year. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience w/ the equestrian team? I'm considering a few other colleges (UVA, UNC Chapel Hill, W&M, JMU) and very interested in joining/trying out for the team. I do not come from a lot of money but worked as a working-student at a barn in exchange for lessons and travel to some local shows while I was in high school, so I do have experience, but I was never part of the showing-every-weekend-on-my-$100,000-horse crowd. Would I have a chance/be welcomed, do you think? </p>

<p>You would absolutely be welcome on the team if you wanted to join. Anyone can be part of the team as long as they make the commitment to practice twice a week and go to horse shows 2 weekends each semester. I just joined the team this year and it is a lot of fun riding with a team. People of all experiences levels are welcome, and very few of us were part of the crowd with expensive horses showing every single weekend. A lot of us are in the same position as you</p>
