Equipment malfunction during ACT!!

Does UM superscore the ACT?

D's calculator malfunctioned today during the ACT!! She got a 35 on math in June and thinks she did much better today than June in Eng and Sci but in her words "bombed" in math (low battery). Does Mich superscore ACT?
Thanks!

no, they do not. but they will take her highest composite score.

I’m not sure I understand the difference between superscoring and taking the highest composite. Sorry to be so dense but could you explain?

Thanks

Sure. Ok, let’s say the first time she took it, she got scores of :

CR: 34, M: 32, E/W: 31, Sci: 35 Eng.: 36, and let’s say the composite for that was 33.

Next time, she gets a:

CR: 33, M: 33, E/W: 34, Sci: 28, Eng.: 32, and the composite is a 31.

Michigan will use the first “sitting”, or all the scores used the first time to compile the 33 composite, in their evaluation. They will NOT, however, use the highest individual scores (ie CR: 34, M:33, E/W 34, Sci. 35, Eng. 36) to make up a new composite score. In other words, they don’t combine tests.

Hope that wasn’t too confusing.

i get a low battery warning a long time before the battery actually dies…that’s really strange that she got the low battery warning during the test and her calculator died during the test as well.

My calc goes Low Batt. to off in about 1 minute. So I believe it.

Haha my calculator has been at low battery for weeks. I must have a pretty good calculator.

yeah, what’s the point of a calculator that tells you that your battery is low 1 minute before it dies? that’s stupid.
