Anyone applying for the financial aid???

i know it says on the application form that it wouldn't hurt you..... but still i'm quite doubtful;(

ps. i'm an international!

yeah, I was wondering about that too...

Princeton is need-blind. There's no way it could hurt you. I submitted mine the first day it was out. Trust me, you don't want to be stuck with that $43K bill. Go financial aid.

We were going to apply for financial aid, but my parents decided they didn't buy the honesty of the need blind policy (why would they ask on the application if you were in need if they claim they are need blind?!) So we aren't applying for financial aid any longer....

As at least 1/2 the students are on aid, though, I'd imagine that they do admit based on merit, not ability to cough up cash....

They ask because they'd like to have an idea beforehand (since many apply to the school first and financial aid later). At least that's what the rep told me. Really, if this were almost any other school, I'd understand. But Princeton is top-ranked financial aid wise. Seriously. They seem to love to give people money. Have you done the Estimator on the Princeton website yet?

Yes, according to the Estimator, we wouldn't have gotten much, anyway. I don't know. How is it that they get the exact same breakdown of students on aid every year if it's needblind? Well, whatever. I told my parents to apply, but my mom put her foot down and said no, she didn't want to risk it. My dad agreed. (Ironic, huh? I think they want me to go to Princeton even more than I want to go to Princeton.)

That's cool, c_j....definitely not the case w/ my parents! They love Princeton, but wouldn't pay 40k for it each year (plus I've got 2 younger sisters...).

Same here, Kebree. My parents refused to consider ED anywhere (especially not at Princeton) due to the financial committment they'd be making. However, when we did the Estimator and found out how much I'd receive from the university, they quickly changed their tune. Thank God.

Yeah, the Estimator saved me, too. Thank you Princeton!

Off topic, but did anyone else think that SNL/Ashlee Simpson lip-synching fiasco was hilarious? I can't get over it...

And the fact that she blamed it on her band makes the whole thing even funnier...what's the take in her homestate, philntex?

You know, I heard about the lipsynching incident, but I didn't get to see a clip of it or anything. :( What were the details?

Oh, it's absolutely hilarious. We were talking about it in English today. It's not even that she does it, but that she's been so vocal about how she's so against it. Yeah, karma's a *****, Ashlee. So few actually like Jessica/Ashlee here. Which is a good thing. A very, very good thing.

I'm not her biggest fan ;)

From Lucky Magazine interview:

Lucky Magazine: What are your takes on lip-synching?

Ashlee Simpson: I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never
lip-synch. It's just not me.

And so she responds by standing there and dancing around....what a laugh...sad thing is, this probably won't do too much to her career.

did you all see the clip of ann coulter getting a pie thrown at her? That was pretty out there, too.

Hahaha. That was so great. Thanks for the link, Kebree. :)

I know, wasn't it?
"I'm so sorry, ohmygosh, like, my band started playing the wrong song!"

Note to Ashlee: no, the dj in the back hit the wrong button...

lol that was really funny. I actually like Jessica more, but I don't really LIKE either of them.
